If your physician has prescribed an Echocardiography procedure, our team of technologists and Reading Cardiologists will provide you with the highest quality of care.
Bethesda Hospital West is proud to be a recipient of the distinguished Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) accreditation. Hospitals that are accredited by ICAEL have met the national standards for all aspects of Echocardiography testing for the diagnosis of heart disorders and disease. The accreditation ensures that the facility is critiqued and approved by medical experts in the field of Echocardiography throughout the United States and Canada.
Echocardiography utilizes ultrasound (sound waves) to view both structure and function of the heart. It is harmless and essentially painless. Our department can use echocardiography contrast if ordered. It may be used in conjunction with either an Echocardiogram with Doppler, or a Stress Echocardiogram. It is indicated when the heart cannot be adequately visualized by ultrasound alone.
The Outpatient Echocardiography department is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Echocardiography is available for patients admitted to the hospital per their physician's request 24/7.
Board Certified Cardiologists interpret the images. All technologists are registry eligible or registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Echocardiography or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
