(Boynton Beach, FL--) Bethesda Health is pleased to announce Thurston Pottinger, RN, as the 2016 Bethesda Nurse of the Year. Pottinger was nominated by his peers and honored at Bethesda’s Annual Nurses’ Appreciation Breakfast and Award Ceremony held in commemoration of National Nurses’ Week on May 10, 2016. Geralyn Lunsford, RN, BSN, MHM, Administrator of Bethesda Hospital West and Vice President of Patient Services, hosted the ceremony recognizing Bethesda nurses.
Pottinger has worked at Bethesda Heart Hospital for the past eight years.
“Thurston possesses all of the qualities that are needed to represent the profession of nursing in a positive and professional light,” said Lunsford. “Not only is he a talented nurse, he is an excellent person.”
The candidates for Bethesda’s Nurse of the Year award are nominated by their peers for their dedication and excellence in the nursing profession. National Nurses’ Week is sponsored by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and highlights the diverse ways in which registered nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are working to improve healthcare. National Nurses’ Week is celebrated annually on May 6 through the 12 and this year’s theme was “Culture of Safety: It Starts With YOU.”
